See now, that's why I rarely post about the details of my job -- crickets chirp. So you have only yourself to blame when the craft posts dry up entirely. So there.

Did a good day's work yesterday morning, then spent the afternoon wandering the Museum of Natural History, then out to dinner, during which my cell phone died. (yes, Nea, the same thing that happened when I was down there.) Fortunately, after a reboot and all-night recharge, it recovered (zombiephone!). Anyone else there with a G1 from T-Mobile have this experience, or is it Just. My. Phone?

Meanwhile, a very interesting tidbit from Tools For Change: What Ebook Resellers Should Learn from Scribd. Specifically, realtime sales information. What's most interesting to me is not just that Scribd is doing something right, but that the ability for other e-retailers to do the same is either here, or approaching here. Now to see if anyone takes up the gauntlet....

I don't comment on your "work" posts because I don't know enough to comment intelligently. That doesn't mean that I don't read them with interest!

I will therefore post "I read this and liked it" whenever you post a craft-y post!;-)

I have. It happened two days in a row. I'd had it happen with a previous phone, so I took the battery out, reseated it, and then rebooted the phone. No more problems.

Not that I noticed. That does sound like something different, though.

If it makes you feel any better, I read that post, was in inspired by it, and linked back to it (http://bill-leisner.livejournal.com/406350.html).

Apologies for not thanking you more visibly, and please don't think the craft posts are being ignored.

I'll echo the other comments, I enjoy reading all your post. I don't comment on the craft ones, since I figure there are more articulate folks that will comment and say, better, the same thing I was going to say.

But you raised an interesting point in the post, that didn't get commented on (I don't normally go back and read posts that I've already read, to see the comments)The way you approach editing is similar to the way I approach critiquing. I'll point out where things can be stronger. If I have a good idea of how to fix it, I'll post at least 3 different ways to fix the problem; so that the author is the one fixing the problem, and not me.

I definitely don't have what it takes to be an editor, that's a skill set that must come in handy when you're writing. I don't notice plot holes, usually, and things of that sort. Heck, in my own writing, I've been known to revise the story, so completely, that I've revised out the plot.

hmm, this is a long winded way of saying, "Thank you for those posts!"

Awww. *pout* I read, but i rarely comment. "If I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed."

On Ravelry (knitter/crocheter/yarnie site), the message boards have little buttons under each post: educational, interesting, funny, agree, disagree, love. You can see how many people have clicked each button; it's a nice fast way to indicate that you really love a project someone has posted, or totally agree with a well-worded argument, or have found some info fascinating and useful and have bookmarked it for later reference. I got used to them very quickly, and am always sad when i can't find them on LJ. (It's almost reflexive - "ooooh, yeah, that's so totally right! ... Wait, where's the 'agree' button? Oh, yeah, drat.") It also helps to save on the "me too!" posts.
