I can respect no so-called "pro-life" organization that condones cold-blooded murder of an unarmed man. And on holy ground, too -- hypocrisy piled on top of hypocrisy. If you would help women in need, put down your guns and offer your hands in support. Until then, we have no ground to meet on.

WICHITA - A search is ongoing for the suspect in this morning's fatal shooting of George Tiller, the Wichita doctor who became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion.

Tiller, 67, was shot just after 10 a.m. in the lobby of Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th, where he was a member of the congregation.

Amen. I'm from Kansas, and he's been a lightning rod for years. I knew as soon as I saw the headline on CNN that it would be him. "Pro-Life" indeed.

I agree! And I understand being conflicted, too, but I feel like late-term abortions are often mischaracterized. I had to consider one when testing showed one of my daughters was at risk for some very serious complications (thank goodness all turned out to be OK). At that point in a pregnancy, you've felt the baby move, you've come to love it, and deciding to terminate is a very painful, difficult, private decision. Too often, I think "pro-lifers" make it look like a woman just decided at 6-7 months along that she didn't feel like being pregnant anymore and cavalierly went in for an abortion. Insulting and extremely insensitive, IMO.

Late term abortion is a very rare procedure (about 1% of all abortions performed) and is almost always done to save the life of the mother.

But it's so much more sensational to talk about than the other 99%, after all...

It's people like this, who are clearly not pro-life, who give those who genuinely are, not just anti-abortion, a bad name. :(

Agreed. But I don't think pro-life applies, and I even hesitate to use the term "pro-birth," although that seems to be some advocates' agenda...

They've arrested the alleged shooter.

Words cannot begin to express my anger. Especially someone who guns down an opponent in a church. If that shooter claims to be a person of faith...pfui. Unbelievable.

Sorry, but the root cause of the problem is anger. Someone was angry enough to end this guys life. I think the only positive emotion here should be sorrow that one person chose to end the life of another.

Just my two cents though..

the wild west philosophy again. "I don't agree with someone so let's shoot him" It happens in every country for every conceivable reason. From Religion to sports.

In the UK, this would have been a stabbing over a drunken argument, in Northern Ireland 15 years ago, it would be a car bomb to "force the Brits out", in the Middle East it would be a suicide bombing "because your Religion is wrong". No matter where you go in the world, no matter how agreeable a person you are, someone will be offended by you to the extent that they want to murder you in the name of their "cause"

An utter bullshit excuse to some is enough justification to end the life of another. It's not going to change any time soon.
