Headache is staying a real but distant threat, and my muse came back from wherever he's been hiding and helped me figure out a twist the book needed. Another 1700 words today, yay. Oh, and Madame Agent loves crack story idea! But since it is option material, must wait until this book is done and handed in. *hates waiting* Tonight, I get to work on Mustang, finally. *rubs hands together* I am aiming for so over the top I'll need oxygen on this one, folks. :-D

On the renovation front, the flooring not finished yet, but what's done looks pretty. I begin to see maybe-light at maybe-end of renovations tunnel. Hope so. Feeling very cramped in my office right now. Grrr. On the plus side, my worries about all the colors and patterns not coming together are being soothed. This may work, after all.


And meanwhile....
Y'know, if you come to my Facebook page -- or my LJ, or my website -- and start talking stupid-ass shite about abortion, politics, or religion, and then refuse to actually address the claims you're making or cite your sources? I will smack you down like the stupid bitch you are. Dude, I don't go to your place and start making noise, why did you feel you had the right to come back to my Wall -- when you already knew I could and would take you to school for asserting Your Opinion as Fact, rather than saying "well, this is where I'm coming from..."?

Also, patronizing the little womenfolk? Not a good idea. Really. I won't even snap at you, I'll just let Terri do it. She's meaner.

[so far this guy has managed to annoy women, liberals, socialists of any/all stripe, pro-choicers, supporters of stem cell research, athiests, agnostics, Obama supporters, critical thinkers, and who knows who else. The only reason he hasn't offended homosexuals is because I haven't posted any gay-specific links for him to comment on -- trust me, once I do, it's gonna go off the scale and I will finally have my 3-strikes justification to ban his trollish arse.

He is, unfortunately, a classic Right Wing Conservative Christian who gives all other Christians of any stripe a Really Bad Rep. And I weep for the fact that someone who once worked in mainstream publishing has no clue at all about the actual terms and implications of the First Amendment. Although that does give me a clue as to why he no longer works in publishing.

Someone who friended me years ago (and contains the word 'dubya' in his LJ name) is "Texas Republican. I don't tolerate whinney liberals. Pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-business.... and if your against those things, I'm willing to take you on."

I particularly like the 'whinney' liberals. Oh, those darn Houynhnms and their fancy ideas! (Even if the spelling is wrong however you take it).

However, he never has taken me on. He's never even commented and he's only ever friended a handful of people, amongst whom I recognise myself and Jeremy Lassen. Clearly we are the 'liberal media' against whom he fulminates.

Basically the quote that would have convinced me to become a feminist, had I not been one already.

I always wanted to kidnap one of these guys and lock him in a room with one of those rabid won't-let-you-get-a-word-in-sideways doctrinaire Marxists, which you don't seem to have so many of in the US (although a name does come to mind, which I think in the light of Racefail I'd better not mention. Same initials as Shakespeare, however).

If it's the person I think it is, I'd pay money to, well, not to see it, but to have it happen and let the results be reported to me.

I've informed my problem child that he's getting a permanent time-out from me, and he should use it to reconsider why he feels the need to act like an asshat. I don't expect it to do much good, but at least I won't be spending any more energy on him, and I don't think anyone else should, either. Life really is too short, and too interesting, to waste on people who can't behave with civility in public.

My partner has declared this to be International Dump an A**hole Year. We've already got rid of three people, including the small press (non genre) author who has made my staff members' life a nightmare over the last 2 weeks regarding his book launch. Repeat after me: if nobody understands your genius it's because you haven't got any.

It's not quite the same but it's in a similar entitlement ballpark.

I wish I was surprised, but I'm not. I seem to run into these kinds of words/ideas a lot. I don't know why, but I do. My world view encompasses his mindset, sadly the reverse is not true. I don't agree with him but I'm used to the kinds of statements he's making.

And... yeah. I have to admit laughing out loud, for real, when the patronizing tone toward women came up. I don't have to know Terri, I just thought of your reaction and started to giggle until there were tears.

(Edit) Oh, and the socialism thing cracks me up. Really. As the Canadian born child of a family from the USA, I got to hear all my life the Evils of Socialist Canada. Frankly the word doesn't mean what it did then, it's loaded completely differently now... Still, no matter what, it is not what I think he thinks it is.

And that's what makes it worse. It's like there's a script of "Thing To Say To Impress People With How You Are Right" that he is reading from. I can sing along with him. But I tend to think he's not even sure what they words mean.

Oh, that's exactly what I was saying. I met you exactly once in person, and I got a great gauge of you. Enough to know that basic fact. You are a strong, independent individual who happens to be a woman. All factors, none overriding others, that contribute to a formidable mind and presence. (shrug) None any less or more important than the other.

And knowing men, being raised one for instance, I know how that often can be patronized to/at. In there nowhere is a slice of justification for that kind of attitude. And I know you've got the wherewithall to smack the living stuffing out of anyone who tries. (laugh) So to have been in the same room at any point in his life and to type with that kind of tone?

but all it does is a) make them apeshittier and b) make them feel they've accomplished something. Better to ignore him. Don't respond. Don't even read. I tried to get him to play well with the other kids, and he refused every opportunity. So now he gets a permanent time-out

(I don't like to ban folks, I've never had to do it, and it's better IMO to show by example how to behave civilly in public. It's wearying on the soul, yeah, but it's better karma in the long run)
