updatery on a sunday afternoon....
Mar. 1st, 2009 05:29 pmSTAYING DEAD is now available as an [unabridged] audio download from Audible.com. Ten and a half hours of juicy magical goodness. Slowly, one format at a time, the Cosa Nostradamus takes over the world. Also, the mass market editions of CURSE THE DARK and BRING IT ON are officially on-sale this month, for those of you who've been waiting for the mass market price!
And while we're updating, my Lunacon schedule:
Saturday 10:30:00 AM
Reading [either from BLOOD FROM STONE or FLESH & FIRE. Audience choice! And There May Be Doughnuts]
Saturday, 1pm
Book Editors' Roundtable
Current and former editors talk about what editors look for, what they see too much of, what annoys them, and what makes some writers a pleasure to work with. [I suspect there will be more of the annoyance/pleasure discussion than what anyone's looking for, at least on my non-acquiring side]
Saturday 4:00:00 PM
Urban Fantasy Worldbuilding
How do urban fantasy and paranormal romance writers go about building their worlds? Is the city a requirement or one tool of many? How do they incorporate classic folklore into modern environments? [Ahem. Bring note-taking implements. and questions.]
Sunday 11:00:00 AM
Autographing I may -- MAY! -- also have the art for FLESH & FIRE to show off....
Sunday 1:00:00 PM
Online Fiction
Where are the places to find good short stories, novels, etc. There are a number of SFWA pro markets publishing online, Tor made a big jump into the field this year with Tor.com and free novels, authors like Tobias Buckell, Charles Stross, and Cory Doctorow giving books away for free... there is a lot for people who are reading on a budget! [I will be discussing BookView Cafe, so be ready to take notes!]
Sunday 3pm
Twilight: For Good or For Ill
The Twilight fandom is a juggernaut, filling up the vacuum left by the end of Harry Potter. Its fans say that it's the best series since Gutenberg invented print. Its detractors say that it's Wuthering Heights, with vampires. Best thing ever, awesomely bad or sexist and offensive? Are anyone's passions not aroused by this book/film series? [Come for the snark, stay for the actual discussion!]
If anyone wants to get together, drop me a note here or via e-mail. Proximity and Other Obligations that weekend mean I'm day-tripping it, so don't count on being able to find me randomly over the weekend....
