When you wake up at 6am and think "something's different," it probably means there's snow on the ground. Dawn sounds different when it's snowing.

Some good news: I am informed by Madame Editrix that STAYING DEAD will be available in audio format the first week of March, via Audible.com.

This is also when the mass market reissues of CURSE THE DARK and BRING IT ON are supposed to hit (and the reprint of STAYING DEAD, to fill all the backorders finally, yay!)

So. I probably should do something to celebrate said events, huh? Hrm. Maye a contest...but what kind? it's almost like we're getting contest exhaustion around here in genre-land... can we come up with something different?

Gimmie your ideas, people. Be wacky. Be creative. Be traditional. Be greedy....

I'm heading back into the word mines. bbl.

Does that mean that libraries can't buy a physical copy of the audiobook? (I review audiobooks for library-based journals.)

It depends on the publisher. Many libraries are offering downloadable audiobooks, using services like NetLibrary or Overdrive. It's up to the publisher to determine if an audiobook is going to be available through the services.

I went to an Overdrive seminar a few years back. What they said is that it is the publishers' decision as to which books are available, and in which format. It was also up to the publisher to determine if the audio file could be copied, and if it was available only as one large batch or if it could be downloaded in batches.

Maybe something along the lines of bringing areas from your book to life? I mean, like taking a picture or something of your favourite place that closely resembles somewhere in the books and then explaining why? Or something where we actually have to get out and do shit? :'D?

or not!

How about a fanfic contest, with the top prize being a complete set?

"the mass market reissues of CURSE THE DARK and BRING IT ON are supposed to hit"

Yay! I've been waiting for this. Now, I get to buy them.

But I don't want to read "you" in French. I like your writing style in English. And Lord knows how the translation would be. They absolutely massacred Misty's Vanyel novels.

Sounds neat. Any idea who will be doing the reading?

It's a metacontest! A contest about contests! Exciting!

Not a one, I'm afraid. My creative bone has been broken by the yoke of daily labor. Ah unemployment how I miss thee!

Unless you want to make coming up with a contest a contest. Not just jokingly, but for real...
