I have hit stupid people with cluesticks. Have you?

In my case, it's an insurance company claiming that they can't find any record of my previous five years' account with them, including a documented (I have the paperwork sent from them in my hand) change of coverage in December 2007.

The guy on the phone kept saying he "needed more information on what happened." Apparently, I'm supposed to know what happened to the information in his company's files.

*polishes the cluestick*

Yes, I did tell them that 'losing' records on health care insurance, and failing to pass them on to the next company when requested, would not go over well with whatever media group I chose to share this with, especially in an election year...

I'm supposed to get a call back before 1pm. We'll see.

EtA: They're "working on it." Bah.

I have done my best to explain to a client that, when they send me schedules saying they made a certain amount of cash distributions to their partners in the year, then they send me a check register showing the amount of cash actually paid, that it would be awfully nice if the two schedules had the same total.

I've also tried to explain that, in the tax code, "the beginning of the month" does NOT mean the 15th of the month. Really, I know parts of the tax code can be confusing, but that shouldn't be one of them.

Just remember, if the schedule has the higher amount, it's possible fraud (and client is an idiot). If the check amount is higer, client is just an idiot.
