It Never Gets Old
Nov. 6th, 2007 10:12 amSolicitation covers for FREE FALL arrived in the mail.
OMG the cover pops. Some day maybe I'll get text embossing, just because I'm a greedy geek that way, but this cover honestly doesn't need it.
The art has nothing to do with the actual story (although it kicks in on a psychological level, I'll grant them that). The title was not my first or even second choice. And I would never have thought that teal type on a purple-black background was a good idea. But I love love love this cover...
And I am ego-riffic enough to say that I still love the shout line I came up with:
"Nothing in life is free. Even if you steal it."
I currently have the damn thing propped up against my computer so I can look at it when I type. The fifth book in the series, and I'm as giddy as a first-timer. Okay, the giddiness will wear off in a few hours, I'm sure. And I'm not accosting strangers on the street squeaking "lookitmyBOOK!" But giddy, yes. And feeling fine with that, thanks muchly. :-)

Date: 2007-11-06 05:38 pm (UTC)I had the embossed pricey cover for Fire Queen, back when dinosaurs still ruled the earth and Bantam spent some money on it. Wasn't in love.

Date: 2007-11-07 03:16 am (UTC)It was an odd and unusually large WFC... usually I can't get away from people, but this year I barely saw anyone twice all weekend, even with the bar being so small!
