No, really. Yahoo says so, and they're never wrong...
Caffeine Nation Marches On

Today kicks off Caffeine Awareness Month and we're buzzing with excitement at the thought of 31 days dedicated to our favorite addiction. In the spirit of the event, we wonder, are you aware of caffeine? Statistics suggest you are, since 90% of Americans consume caffeine daily, and it's the most widely-used drug in the world. Great! Our job is done: We're all aware of caffeine.
Mostly a rehash of the old known stuff -- caffeine BAD. No, caffeine GOOD. Caffeine DRUG. Well, d'uh.
But that does not negate the fact that March is, apparently, Caffeine Awareness Month. Take a moment to pat your tea kettle, your espresso maker, your soda machine, and say "thank you, pal. I couldn't make it through the day without you."
(because, let's face it, we all know at least one person who has a closer relationship with the coffee maker than s/he does with most people. In fact, some of you ARE that person.)

*goes to suckle from the teat of sweet, sweet espresso*

Date: 2007-03-03 01:04 am (UTC)it it by the beans of java that thoughts acquire speed,
the hands acquire shaking,
the shaking becomes a warning,
it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
Why is that not already an icon?

To the queen: "Mama, mama, buy me a pony!"
And to the old nursemaid type knitting upstage: "Granna, granna, knit me a pony! KNIT ME A PONY!"
And I actually did knit my sister a pony for Christmas one year! So it's stuck. I even have http://www.knitmeapony.com/, tho' I haven't updated it since I left school.

A New Lifestyle
People in this town drink too much
coffee. They're jumpy all the time. You
see them drinking out of their big plastic
mugs while they're driving. They cut in
front of you, they steal your parking places.
Teenagers in the cemeteries knocking over
tombstones are slurping café au lait.
Recycling men hanging onto their trucks are
sipping espresso. Dogcatchers running down
the street with their nets are savoring
their cups of mocha java. The holdup man
entering a convenience store first pours
himself a nice warm cup of coffee. Down
the funeral parlor driveway a boy on a
skateboard is spilling his. They're so
serious about their coffee, it's all they
can think about, nothing else matters.
Everyone's wide awake but looks incredibly
tired.
