why the commentaries are often so much better than the film itself?

Although, in this case, the movie (sorry, PotC) is damnfine, and the commentary (Kiera K. and Jack Davenport) is just an added fillip of snarky joy...


"How can one man wear so much brocade, and not be classified as a mardi gras float?"

"Sit back, relax, and enjoy some very repressed work."

"What was it like being in a film with 250,000 men? Was it lovely? Or was it a bit much?"

"There was a certain amount of courtly man-love going on."



Suddenly, I am filled with great love for Jack Davenport. And I think he would make a truly lovely, lovely Sergei. Should anyone be listening...
