Yeah I know from being on recruiting duty currently; that Navy and Air Force are doing well. Army and Marines however, are sucking. Army is sucking so badly that they have started programs like this: Blue to Green (http://www.goarmy.com/btg/index.jsp)

My niece is on reserve duty with the Army. She just got married (to a j/a/, er, Marine), and we've torn between warning her against getting pregnant, and telling her to hurry up already...

If they will let him resign. Tell him to be paranoid about the paperwork, and yes, he wants a letter saying they know he's out and accept it....

But then, SF writers are paranoid, even when they are feeling better balanced these days.
