Friday night: CatofSize begins to show indications that he's unwell.

Saturday oh-fuck-early: wake up to CatofSize being deeply unwell.

Saturday morning: emergency run to the vet (with Hero-of-the-rebellion twinling, who refused to let me drive on 3 hours of sleep, and instead came and got us)

Saturday afternoon: a two hour meeting for a limited-term gig that I may not get but if I do will be a lot of work and kind of awesome. And a steady paycheck.

Saturday night: Seahawks trounce the Panthers. City is slightly giddy. I still manage to collapse early, after being awake for 20 hours.

Sunday: oh shit, right, I have work, need to do work, while keeping an eye on CatofSize, who is responding to antibiotics and hydration, yay.

I have also managed to cook, clean, read a book for pleasure, and answer a bunch of emails. I feel like I have successfully fucking adulted, this weekend.

How's by you?

Hugs, and hopes that CatofSize continues to respond.

I've been wrestling with a contest essay (deep sigh, this is the year to get aggressive with creative nonfiction as well as the fiction) as well as doing a lot of stuff outside. Helping a friend yesterday with his farm chores (widower, and three people make routine chores easier).

Then, today, riding horse and soaking her foot. Finding her shoulder slightly bunged up because someone put her blanket on wrong and the blanket has a strap that ripped--thankfully, because that meant she didn't mess up her bad hip getting the hoof caught in the wrongly fastened belly strap. The strap blew instead. Got her worked out of it and she was feeling good. Whew. Then came home and mended the strap by hand, grateful that I still had some of my mother's old monster-sized button and carpet thread coupled with upholstery needles left in a sewing basket I'd bought at a garage sale years ago.

But there's been a degree of messing around and avoiding scheduling, because next week is gonna be a wild ride for both adulting and for having fun. I have to go fill out the planner for next week, and put together the To Do list. Sounds like the moving/relocating/whatever we call it goes into high gear for the next four months...in three weeks. Yikes.

Me, I spent the weekend on the sofa, feeling mildly unwell. All the time hearing the sound of adulting whooshing by the windows, seeing it observed by fascinated cats. You people who can actually do that stuff, you have my unstinted admiration.

Adulting had to be done.

I had a meeting with a customer who was going to ask us to handfast herself and her partner. Instead, we'll be burying him. He did not survive a lung transplant and died on NYE. So Saturday was funeral service planning and then a much more positive meeting with a colleague in a London bookshop.

Sunday was about house clearance which, thank God, we're nearly at the end of.

Today the dishwasher packed up.

Played RPGs on Sunday (and managed to survive again)

Ordered a new phone.

Wrote two reviews.

Determinedly plodding through another cold winter weekend.

Poor Boomer and poor you: I hope he's still doing well, and you are getting more sleep.
Good wishes with the gig.

I too am sickish...is that a word? Anyway, so that allows me to lounge about drinking tea, eating graham crackers and enjoying other writer's books all week.

Hope Boomer gets well quick.
