The bike shop switched out seats for me - the original one was designed for 30+ mile racing. This one's specifically for women, and more of a commuter-ride seat.
[the difference in shape and, yes, where the padding is placed, makes a huge difference]
I swapped out the saddle on my bike last year, for a cushiony gel commuter one, and it's made a huge difference. Still hurts a bit, but not like it did with the mountain bike racing saddle!
I need to get the folding commuter bike tuned up and see how I like riding that in town...
Comparing photos, I have to say that a riding helmet, on the other hand, always looks elegant. Cyclists need to start working w/ black velveteen, clearly)
...not that you'd know that by the number of unhelmeted idiots bikers around here.
(I was brought up very firmly with the Helmets Are Good [Head Injuries Are Bad] school of bicycling thought, to the point where there was one time -- I was probably around six or so -- when I saw a bicycle police officer, in uniform and everything, not wearing a helmet, and I was Outraged enough to write a letter to the police department.)
