photographic evidence

and also proof that everyone but everyone looks dorky in a bike helmet.

At least it's not a "butterflies and caterpillars" helmet, like some of the ones I've seen.

I'm just jealous of the seat cushion; the seat on my bike hurts like hell.

And that baggage carrier on the back is nice for commuting as well. Nice bike.

I swapped out the saddle on my bike last year, for a cushiony gel commuter one, and it's made a huge difference. Still hurts a bit, but not like it did with the mountain bike racing saddle!

I need to get the folding commuter bike tuned up and see how I like riding that in town...

You haven't completed the dorkiness of the bike helmet until you have a little stick-on mirror hanging off one side.

(Yes, I see the bar-end mirror. I keep busting those when I try them.)

Dropped handlebars seem to expose them to additional risk.

I was thinking dorkiness would be complete with those streamers we used to put on the ends of the handlebars. :)

Well, my mom the nurse would say that bike helmet is a hell of a lot sexier than a closed-head injury. ;p

Helmets are Good Things.

...not that you'd know that by the number of unhelmeted idiots bikers around here.

(I was brought up very firmly with the Helmets Are Good [Head Injuries Are Bad] school of bicycling thought, to the point where there was one time -- I was probably around six or so -- when I saw a bicycle police officer, in uniform and everything, not wearing a helmet, and I was Outraged enough to write a letter to the police department.)

I came here in search of teh dorky, and all I found was proper minimal safety gear and legs. I don't see teh dorky.

But then, my remoras have been yelling "Stooopid" when they saw unhelmeted bicyclists from their car seats in the minivan since they were threeish...

You look very cool-- trust me, it takes a lot more spandex and weather gear before you hit the dorky stage.

And that looks like a nice Cannondale bike.
