I am having major flower envy. A co-worker just got the most amazing, astonishing bouquet of eighteen bright pink roses, complete with baby's breath and a huge pale pink ribbon.

They smell delicious, like spiced vanilla frosting, and everyone's making excuses to walk by her desk and look at/smell them.

I admit it, I'm a flower-slut. I adore them. I would have my home filled with flowers on a replaced-weekly basis if I could only afford them. If I were ever to become obscenely wealthy, that's what I'd have before anything else; a standing order at the local florist.

Failing that, I may have to stop by the florist on the way home today and buy myself a carnation or something.

FWIW, I find that David Austen roses are like repeat-blooming tanks; sturdy and not requiring a lot of maintenance. You could have a bush or two of your own for the price of a bouquet or two.

The soil around my house grows rocks. So this year I began fiddling with container gardening and now have lovely flowers on the deck and on the steps up to the deck. Very pretty...and the humming birds are delighted.

You'd love our landlords, the florists. Every time Keith goes down to pay the rent, they try to give us a dozen roses. They know those are the only ones I can be around, as cut roses usually end up dying before they can bloom in our house and spread the evil pollen.

*shakes head*

Enough whining for today. Suffice to say I envy people that can be around flowers all the time.

I had the flower-envy the other day. My friend responded by letting me have one of her roses.

*sends Meerkat virtual flowers* Sorry hon, it's all I can afford right now. ;-)
