Some of you may recall that a little over a year ago we and several others on our street were robbed (sorry, burgled). I lost a lot of stuff, including my engagement ring and gold watch, not to mention my laptop.
We wrote it off on the insurance and went on with our lives.
Yesterday the cops called. The guy got turned in by his girlfriend. He's in jail, being charged with eighty (yep, 80!) counts of whatever-the-legal-term-is. They suspect it may be a LOT more when they're done investigating.
Sadly, all our stuff is long since pawned. But the guy's in jail. It does make me feel just a little bit better.
Yay ex-girlfriend who turned him in. I wish I could send her flowers.

Then the pawn shop could get nailed for trafficking stolen property, and they might be able to recover said stolen property, confiscating it from whoever might have purchased it. (I'm not sure if they can confiscate it under NJ law, though.)
*shrug* It's a thought.

Does it protect pawn shop owners who might knowingly be buying stolen goods? *shrug* Nothing's perfect.
