new thing scratched off to-eat list: sweetbreads. Surprisingly good, although I'd be hesitant to order them somewhere I wasn't damn sure of the chef.

Also: flocks of wild turkeys! thunderstorm-related blackouts! chocolate tastings! 8 hours of sleep a night (!!!!)

I love sweetbreads with the love undying. My mother reared us on a number of things that a lot of people are antsy about - brains, tongues, hearts - but sweetbreads are perhaps my abiding favourite. (Or maybe brains. Brains good. Braaainnnns...)

I do sometimes cook sweetbreads, when they turn up - but they're rare in the market, alas.

I have to admit the chocolate tastings sound more appealing to me than the sweetbreads.

I'm about halfway through the arc of Flesh and Fire I snagged at BookExpo and loving it.

On the sweetbreads front you are a much braver woman than me. My mother adores them, but then her father hunted squirrels and her favorite part was their brains, so I don't exactly trust her taste in food.

Sweetbreads yes. YUM. I have even cooked them for my parents when they visited. Also tongue - which as a child I called 'honey meat'!
