To celebrate finally being able to sit down and start Vineart 2, I opened one of the last bottles from my Burgundy research trip with dinner -- Pommard 1er Cru Clos de Verger, 2002

Trying to describe it to [livejournal.com profile] debg I said that it was like warm raspberries and cream, with the texture of a perfect gingersnap cookie -- not a big wine, not a soft wine, but baby bear's porridge of Just Right.

And then I did a quick google on the wine, and came up with this:

http://www.coodencellars.co.uk/wine/country.asp?country=France®ion=Burgundy&appellation=Pommard+1er+Cru

Hah. me FTW. Or at least FTAgreement.

And OMG I am so sorry I opened that bottle because it was the only one I have. *sads* But it will still be there for tomorrow night! *happy*

Wine=magic. Totally.

Sounds beauteous. I nearly always prefer white to red, but this, well, it makes me want to drink it, right now please.

The local wine shop thinks they could get you some at a not unreasonably scary price.

Mmm... sounds lovely.

This ability you have with description, it's amazing. Have you considered becoming a wine reviewer? ;)

Depends. Estimate was $50 per bottle, $240 for a case of 6...Depends on where he would have to source it.

I watched an interesting movie the other day, it was called "Bottle Shock" and was about this Effete British Wine Snob (Alan Rickman) in France & he suggests a blind taste test with those "upstarts" in the Napa Valley. It had Bill Pullman as the owner of Chateau Monteleona and his son played by this Long hair Chris Pine (Star Trek?)

In theory, it's based on a true story. It's an entertaining movie, anyway (especially on an international flight).

You could always come to France in September when they have the wine fairs in all the supermarkets. Or alternately, you could come to France anytime and go shopping at Nicolas.

Actually that was with slow boat shipping, as long as he could combine it with a larger order. Any decent wine distributor should be able to do the same.

Sigh. I wish for me, wine equalled love and not migraine accompanied by crippling nausea. :/ I really feel like I'm missing out on an important pleasure of life.

I'm sure there is a critical piece of oenological research needed for Vineart 2 (other than where to buy a further supply of Pommard 1er cru). And you should be able to wave Vineart 1 under the noses of the Infernal Revenue as evidence that wine is a legitimate research expense....
