Yes. I am a wage slave again. Sort of.

I'm orking on a short-term (6-9 months) writing project for an up-and-coming company in my area. I'm not sure how many details I can really give out, but I'm working directly with the COO and CEO on the project, while also filling in for someone who just went out on maternity leave. It may expand into something more, after the project is done. We'll see. Despite liking the people here a lot, I'm not sure I want to do this office thing regularly.

It's purely a job. in that I leave the work at the door when I go home, and that's a very odd feeling, let me tell you...

3:47 addendum: one of the most terrifying and yet amusing parts of my job is editing Certain Co-Workers' memos and e-mails before they're sent. Oh. My. God.

(to be fair, we have a number of ESL folk here, including one who has the additional disadvantage of being a biochem geek, so sentence structure's not what you'd call his strong point. But.. oy. Ah well. I'm striking a major blow for corporate communications, in my own small way.)

I second Terri's comment. This is the lesson I've learned working at Microsoft. It can make all the difference to your creative output and your outlook on life. It *is* a goodness.

Mind you, I have one person that I work for that I state I'm going to inflict bodily injury upon on so regular a basis, it's not considered a day if I don't: a) threaten to injure him, and/or b) threaten to Lojack him because I can't find him. I like the guy, he just needs someone to run his life for him. *chuckle*
