Your manuscript layout looks like what the final page would be like in the book...or am I nuts? If so, does that help somehow or do you just like very wiiiide margins for notes?

The typesetting is exactly as it will be for the book -- but it's printed out on ordinary 8x11 paper, hence the wide margins. That's standard for proofs.
