Having now seen the amateur video of Monday's little aviation debacle over Downtown? Holy f**k. Holy.... And the first person to say anything related to "get over it, you're a bunch of whingers" as has been said in another forum, I will gleefully rip them a new one. Nevermind that the person who said that showed all the interpersonal skills and sensitivity of a block of concrete, that plane was Too. Damn. Close. Hell yes it's going to trigger memories, and unease is the least of the reactions those memories bring up. Never mind the fact that it was just plain dumb, dangerous, and did I say dumb? And so fkcuing avoidable with one simple announcement.
Anyway.
Woke up at 5am (after a dream in which I was able to do some good for charity by getting through a certain period of time without coughing-- swear to dog even my dreams are in on this germfest) not because of coughing (although there was that) but because my body wanted me to get up and get some essential chores done before the heat kicked in for the day. High of 91, supposedly. If anyone wants me today, I'll be in the shady spot on the sofa directly in the path of the a/c unit.
And, as some of you might have guessed by the topic header, this is your weekly dose of Castle Squee:
Castle's knowledge of what writers will/won't do worked well with this plot, which actually had enough twists and detection to satisfy me at least, within the usual caveat that this is closer to Hart to Hart than Homicide. Although I tipped to the twist long before Castle did, and expect most of the writer-minded audience did as well.
Family was used to good effect here, although I'm sort of dubious about the "family and co-workers" poker game. It felt too... cozy. Especially since he had them over, and not them reluctantly letting him into a pre-existing game (which is how I would have done it, even at the risk of losing Mom, but nevermind, I'm not the showrunner). They did set it up that Castle is a bit of a poker addict, so he would garner anyone he could find... I dunno.
It was amusing to see the two sides (her friends, his friends) and how everyone wants to get in on the 'play detective' game, much to Beckett's annoyance. She does not like people playing at her vocation. We R srs p'licmen, srsly! I do wonder, though, if Beckett is aware of how Castle is [consciously or otherwise] networking her into much higher visibility...
"a real writer, or an 'I took a seminar at Learning Annex' writer?" You just heard 1/3 of NYC wince...and another third cackle madly.
Auctorial Flu update: Still meh. Still staying home. Starting to go a smidge stir-crazy.

Icon is aimed at idiots involved in plane debacle.
Date: 2009-04-28 02:24 pm (UTC)As for the NYC debacle -- Watching Jon Stewart come over the desk at the explanation sums up my response. I'm not a resident, but even I was pissed for your sakes. What a dunderheaded imbecilic action to take. I just kep watching the tv going, "Really? REALLY? F**ktards."
Someone needs to get bitchslapped then canned over this.

Date: 2009-04-28 02:50 pm (UTC)Castle *love* yeah, saw it all coming miles away, but loved it anyhow. I think I really like the way the detective guys have accepted Castle. And I wondered how Beckett feels to be thrust into the *spotlight* though I wish with everything that one of the poker games would have been with the writer crowd. *sigh* maybe one day?

Date: 2009-04-28 02:54 pm (UTC)Which makes me happy for her (and sad for people who have to deal with her) and very glad she's nowhere near my life.
And yeah on the poker game, but I suspect that was a one-time stunt deal...until it becomes a two-time stunt deal. :-)

Date: 2009-04-28 04:32 pm (UTC)More than one person needs to be canned over this. And I can only imagine what the phone call Pres. Obama placed to the imbecile who came up with the idea was like. Farktards.

Date: 2009-04-29 01:36 am (UTC)I cackled at that comment on "Castle" last night too. Thankfully, they used the Annex and not The New School (where i took a writing class back in the 80s...shhhhh!)

Date: 2009-04-29 03:27 pm (UTC)Maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Bones, but Valerie and I were stunned that no one ran the fingerprints of murder victim at the outset, which of course would have turned up her identity (a fact that was hard to ignore when you can see fingerprints on the wanted-poster).
Love the characters, and loved the actors they pulled in for all the lesser roles this week, but the plot failed for me.
