All right. For those of you who've been following/heard of/been nauseated by the Rabid Fan-Entitlement Ho Stupidity of the "Russet Noon" bladerdash? Checkit:

This is going to be entirely satirical, and thus legitimately protected by copyright. In honor of the woman who has inspired this, the title will be “Potato Moon” (since when I hear russet I tend to think of spuds rather than the color.) The first chapter will be written by my daughter, “Twilight” fan Ariel David (with a slightly snarky polish by me.) Just as its inspiration is supposed to be, it will be a sequel to “Twilight” written from the point of view of the werewolf character (at least to start out). The cover (created by Glenn) will be posted on line on Wednesday to whet your appetite and the first chapter will go live Friday at 9 AM. And everyone and anyone is invited to participate in the ensuing round robin.

It's not nice to make fun of the disabled. Some people will be smarter than average, and some won't. It's not their fault.

That said, those that choose to act deliberately obtuse, willfully ignorant and irritatingly arrogant deserve no quarter.

This brings me to the following question: What if somebody is both?

Be welcome, and the thing about that line is that it's TRUE. I hate this Stupid EntitlementHo on professional levels, sure (copyright: it's there for my protection, not your wanking) but on a fannish one as well, because SHE MAKES US ALL LOOK LIKE IDIOTS to the rest of the world, who judge us only by our loudest and most mockable members. The sooner we take them in hand (and/or metaphorically bury them facedown seven feet deep, whichever is appropriate) the better off we are as a community.

Must say that as soon as I read the words 'potato moon' I nearly spat out my tea, so to me this makes the whole enterprise worthwhile purely on the grounds of this amusement alone. Indeed, a very bad man, but go him.

I have come across Tolle's writings as quite a lot of people here are into him, and on the basis of the (admittedly small) fragment I read, concluded that it was utter tripe (it's along the same lines of the Secret, about which I have harsh things to say). That's a separate point from Snowflake Fan, however.
