CSI: Trek

After the "furries" episode was handled with respectful amounts of snickering, I wasn't too worried about what they'd do to Trek conventions. But man... I <3 the writers. They're using the lab rats to put a human face on fans, not using the standard stereotypes, and everyone's falling in with the "fannish enthusiasm" rather than more typical "fannish oddity" theme.

And their renditions of Classic 'Trek' stand-in? *howls with laughter.* Oh, yes.

Hopefully the second half will be as good as the first.

It helped that they were starting with a cast of self-selected nerds and science geeks. A cast of cops or lawyers would have been a harder sell.

I fade in and out when it comes to CSI, but I really enjoyed this one.

I think I laughed all the way through the ep. Brilliant riff on Trek, the BSG cameos were great (and the BSG guest star was faboo), and we even got progress on Wedges.

I'm not up on BSG so I only got the obvious riffs and jokes. But the Trek stuff was (forgive me) classic.

What I really loved the most, though, was the bartender who was wistful for the life the show presented. That was just... nice.

I haven't yet watched it, but after trying to work on deadline stuff, and having Jeff wander in and out with his updates on his new favorite bits, I have resolved to do so, and sooner, rather than later.
