Thanksgiving 2008
Nov. 26th, 2008 08:23 pmWatching the news from India, all the seemingly endless damage and bloodshed here and abroad, it's hard to remember that, for the most part, the human race is functionally sane. Some days are just a little less functional than others.
But here in the US, we're pausing -- even if only for a moment -- to remember that there is good and hope and love and reasons to go on, to remain sane.
I am thankful...
-- for the roof over my head and the heat and hot water and food in my fridge.
-- for the job that I love, and that keeps the above things possible.
-- for my family, all present and accounted for.
-- for my best-beloveds, here and away.
-- for my friends, who rock the house on countless occasions.
-- for my readers, who let me continue doing the job I love, and tell me when something I've written touches them, makes them think, or makes a bad day better. You guys are all fantabulous.
-- for The Felines and the Time-Share Puppy, who give love and ask only to be loved and cared for in return.
It's not a perfect life, but it's a good one, and I am thankful for it.
And now I have to haul my thankful self, two parents, and one time-share puppy up to Boston. To all who are gathering on this T'giving day, and all who aren't -- be well, be thankful, and I'll catch y'all after we've all had a nice long post-turkey nap.

Date: 2008-11-27 12:30 pm (UTC)The human race may be technically sane, but the average I.Q. is 100.
I'm thankful for having finished the current project, ready to send in on Monday. Now I start research for the next proposal.
