Which sentence do you think is correct?

"I'm only writing two books next year."

"I'm only writing two books next year?"

"I'm only writing two books next year!"

2 and 3 are more likely to be correct than 1, just because I know *I* can't say 1 convincingly, but the other two come out very nicely. :)

*laughs*

Actually, technically, I'm sort of under contract for 3, because both TRUTHSEEKER and WAYFINDER are due next year, but I intend to write TRUTHSEEKER during NNWM, so it, uh, doesn't count. Right? So *really* I only have two books to write next year. And a bunch of comic scripts, assuming all goes well, but we won't count those. And there's that screenplay I'd like to write. But I really do plan to write only two books next year! *spoik*

I would also say #2 with the follow-up "Guess I'd better get the rest of those proposals out and optioned" after it.

Alas, as I am (as of yesterday morning) lacking a Day Job, I will be devoted to solving THAT little problem ("little" for exceptionally broad definitions of "little" as effective household income was just cut by over 70%) until it's solved.

Thanks... potentially amusing/frightening details at my LJ (although the most interesting post is F-locked).

The second one?

Trick question: none of 'em are correct as each involves a split infinitive.

Give it another couple of decades, though, and chances are all of them will be correct, although the spelling of the word 'two' and the use of auxiliary verbs will be considered archaic to the point of quirkiness.

And if anyone wants me I'll be over here, weeping openly.
