It's all so very strange...
Oct. 2nd, 2008 07:05 pmPeriodically, I check the stats on my website, noting on the number of hits, and where people are coming from. And I've noticed something... okay, not odd, exactly, but.. something that makes me stop and ponder.
There are hits every day from the US and Canada. Okay, that make sense. There are a number of daily hits from the UK and France, and Australia (*waves to my stalker*) and New Zealand (I love seeing hits from New Zealand, I don't know why). I'm published all those places, so it makes sense. Germany, okay, there's crossover from my French Luna publications and I've had short fiction translated into German and likewise Italy, so I can see that.....
The people coming from Denmark, from Saudi Arabia, from Brazil, and South Africa and Romania, Japan and Hungary? Dudes. Where are you hearing about me? And what drives you to enter my name into your search engine and look up my web site?
I mean, I'm delighted to have y'all come for a visit, don't get me wrong. I think it's all fabulous. But there's a part of me that's... I don't know. Taken aback? I mean... it's just me.
(yeah, I have a few self-esteem issues. I'm working on it. This is just... it just sorta freaks me out. In a pleasant, wow, that's weird, are you sure you were looking for ME? kind of way.)
So if you found this LJ via my web site, or by search-engine-of-your-choicing me... feel free to drop me a line, say hi. Maybe even tell me what it was that connected enough that you made made that extra step. I mean, you're getting to know me -- it seems only fair you introduce yourself, too, right?

Date: 2008-10-03 05:30 pm (UTC)I got here via
I'm an aspiring author with some lessons to learn about craft and marketing. (That dratted thing about learning enough to realize one has a LOT more to learn? Yeah, that.)
Elsewise, I'm a doorwoman to four cats and a rescued kitten (*hopeful look* Don't need one do you? Oh. You're clear over THERE. Nevermind.) I live in the Pacific Northwest, garden, struggle on occasion with my aging stubborn father, whine excessively on occasion, and don't read nearly as much as I should.

(I grew up in a household where no stray was ever turned away and damned if they didn't all know it, for counties around. A houseful of animals is the natural order of things for me, but practical restrictions restrict.)
