Two of my cats do that, and one of them is limber enough to get both hind legs at a full 90 degrees to her body. They look like toys that have been thrown down.
Jennifer Roberson came up with the frogdog description (being a Cardigan Corgi Breeder) when the dog is laying on it's front on the ground, with its legs splayed to the sides, it would look like one of those frogs that ended up dissected from high school bio lab classes.
