Weatherwatch just upgraded from yellow to orange. Severe thunderstorms for us, much cloud-to-ground and hail probable for Manhattan and points east.

When we hit red, then I'll pay attention. *is so jaded*

We have been getting this spot storms all through the area.

They Pop Up Dump Rain and Throw Lighting and then go away just as quickly.

My count is up to 3 for today and I hear rumbling of thunder now.

Naw, purple is fine. It's *plaid* you have to worry about.

While it's not impossible, I suspect the presence of all those tall buildings will disrupt the really nasty rotating winds, but the heat island of the greater New York City metroplex, starting wayyy over in New Jersey, means they aren't going to pop up over downtown and dump on, say, the Hamptons, but pop up over Newark and dump on Manhattan *and* the Hamptons. Or New Haven.

Meh, indeed.

I'm lurking around taking a mid-housecleaning breather in front of one of my air-con units after having rendered the bathroom suitable for K's return tomorrow evening (it really didn't get that bad in the one week she was gone, it just sort of accumulated), and needing to tackle Scooter's cage and the vacuuming next.

If I just had central air... then the bathroom wouldn't have been quite so warm whilst I scrubbed away.

The smilin' weather guy on the local station says this is pleasant air, the humid stuff is supposed to arrive Tuesday. Whee.

I pay attention when it's cracking thunder directly overhead and lots of lightning flying around me, OR when it's a weekday, close to 430pm-5pm and I know the hubby is on the road, heading home.

Heh.

the power out here on Lawn Guy Land (East Setauket, between Port Jefferson & Stony Brook) flickered causing things with a relay power switch to trip off (my AC, the big TV & the cable box) requiring them to be turned back on to continue using.

Storms earlier in the summer had already taken down a tree branch (which finally got taken care of by landlord) and this weeks storms took down another tree branch which the landlord was looking at today.

I'll think of you as I'm frantically packing and rushing to catch my plane to the States at CDG on the 23rd.

I say that every time I see the Orange Alert sign at the airport. Which is every time I go to the airport. Which is why I'm so jaded. Someone should alert Homeland Security to the story of the boy who cried wolf.
