June is Bring a Book to the Infidels Month

Riffing off a thought in comments earlier, I hereby pronounce this Bring a Book to the Infidels Month.

Take a genre book you love (could be mine, that would be very nice, but it's not at all required). Pass it along to someone you know who is not a regular reader of SF/F (or has evinced hesitation to try "that stuff.") Cajole them into trying just a bite, because it's great summer reading/won't hurt/will make you happy/whatever works.

Who knows? They may discover they like it after all, and then you can start borrowing books off of them!

::sigh:: and thus i have tried. My Infidel (aka boyfriend) said no. I'm just trying to pass him ANY book that's not a programming book. PLEASE READ SEANY!!!

A great idea, but I am reminded of Anatole France's timeless warning: "Never lend books, for no one ever returns them. The only books I have in my library are books that other folk have lent me."

Isn't that what the economic stimulus tax rebate package is for? To buy more books?

alas, much of my family, my former spouse, my next-door neighbor who is otherwise a really nice guy....

I even *gasp* have friends who don't read SF/F. But they read mystery, so that's okay.

I'll do you one better. My DH doesn't even read novels. Full of lies and inaccuracies, he tells me. *wry grin*
