Balticon proceeds apace. I have done one panel that was well-attended and quite interesting, I have seen many friends, hooked people on the wonders of the Eee PC, been complimented madly on both career and personal ("I didn't recognize you -- you look ten years younger. How do you DO that?" from Peter Beagle), sold books, signed books, come up with a short story idea and pitched it to an anthology editor, come up with an anthology idea I may actually do, eaten ribs and crabcakes, consumed single malts, and actually gotten some writing done.

Tomorrow there is hot-tubbing,more panels,movie-viewing, and more socializing planned. So far, a lovely little convention.

Oh, and any rumors of ribhenge are totally untrue. Except for the part where pictures were taken.

[nodnod] Yep. I knew it. Everybody, she's hiding the portrait in her closet. I said so at Lunacon. Yep. Mmmhmmm.

Ducking and running now... [g]

Ah yes.... the Portrait... I think I buy that....

Of course a better argument might be for "preservation" through alchy. Pickling one might say. I find it works well for me...

:P

BTW LAG, how is the EEE PC going. I keep thinking about getting one, but I'm not sure if I'd manage with so little in the way of disk space... course I guess I could hook up a portable hard drive... but I'm still just not sure.

Not using Windows means that you don't really NEED a lot of memory to function . . .

Heh. See, this is why I do so well with a Mac. ::blonde look::

The microsoft point is a good one, it's amazing how much more space you can get just by dumping it. Very inefficient coding there... and since I use my flash drive to back up all my files anyhow... yeah it is a good point. Awesome, it's back on my list then... right up there with a Kindle! Yay tech shopping!

Ribhenge! Hee!! We could've done that last night. P is perfecting the art of smoking baby backs (BJs had them on sale yesterday, so we bought a LOT and have plenty in the freezer now). You must come over on one of your plentiful available Saturdays this summer and have ribs with us! They're not as good as the ribs at the Corner Stable down the street from Balticon, but they're very yummy.

Oh gawd. The ribs we had there were to! die! for! (We do a dry rub, using the recipe known as BRITU.) I also had crab cakes, which were the best I've ever had in my whole life. We're going to have to get back to Balticon someday; it's just that last year's experience (nasty drive, and then a room snafu) was crappy enough we sat out this time.
