all of the above three are occuring outside my office window. I'd be cranky about the third, except the first two are making the ConEd guys so miserable, I don't have the heart to hate them.

Meanwile, I have fresh-brewed coffee, cats grooming each other (okay, Boomer is trying to lick Pandora's ear, and she's giving him the Death Glare), and a pile of good work to dive into. There are worse Mondays to have (see above re: ConEd workers).

And on the earlier topic of She is Not Me, two of the main characters in HARD MAGIC were originally envisioned as being based indirectly on several people I know -- simply because I thought those personality traits would work well [read: be good for conflict] against each other. I still think so...but the characters are refusing to comply, and instead developing in other directions.

"Its your fault, you know," one tells me. "You're the one who gave me that particular Learning Experience. You've only yourself to blame if I actually Learned from it."

Bookses are ornery things, some days.

Yay on the fresh-brewed coffee and rainy days.

I went totally foodie in my blog the other day, btw—had a meal I think you would have appreciated greatly whilst at Disney. (Victoria & Albert's. Food porn heaven.)

If you want to make sure your area is one of the first to come back after a power failure, take some of the fresh brew out to said con-ed workers.

I did that here once 3 years ago, and we still see the PSE+G trucks faster than anyone I know.

PSE+G doesn't rank up there either :)

Well, small portions, really, except for the main and the dessert (heh). And even the main wasn't huge, perhaps 5-6 oz for the steak.

And if I'd gone with the wine pairings for each course, I'd still be there, passed out on an overload of gluttony. As it was, I had a lovely Guwerztraminer that was really interesting—more spicy than sweet and worked beautifully with most of the courses.

Years ago I went to a family reunion that was held on the Monterey Peninsula and one of the planned activities was a tour of a local winery. One of the last wines they had for the tasting was a gewurtstraminer (sp?).

and as I've just gotten back from a trade show in Lost Wages, I've got to say that they do buffet really well. Long Thin rooms with the buffet running down the long sides (with the desert House standing in the middle)
