iTunes just went from "Etude in C minor" (Vladimir Horowitz) to "The Card Cheat" (The Clash) to "Jaco" (Pat Metheny Group). Not quite as brain-breaking as some possible combinations that might have come up, but it caught my attention....

Meanwhile, revisions are in progress. A few minor queries knocked off with a line or two of explanations, and I have smoothed one plot-tangle with a change that leaves the majority of the thread untouched and yet manages to tie it back nicely into another thread without disturbing that thread beyond a few lines here and there, and suits all the players' personalities. Excuse me, I think I just pulled a muscle patting myself on the back.

(and I've just been reminded that I have to go buy the felines their kitty-crack, as there's only one can left. That could get...ugly, if not remedied, yes)

EtA: cats has fud. All is well. Two-legs gets to go back to work.

"Etude in C minor" (Vladimir Horowitz)

It is said that a classical music fan once spotted Horowitz and Schnabel walking down 42nd St together. Intrigued, he followed them. They went into a low jazz dive, which bewildered him; so, again, he followed. And eventually worked up the courage to approach them at their table, and muttered, "Forgive me, Maitres, but I have to know - why are you here?"

"We've come to hear him," they said, nodding at the piano player.

"You," he spluttered, "you, two of the finest pianists the world has ever known, have come to hear ... him? But why?"

"Because he's better than us."

The pianist, of course, was Art Tatum...

I normally keep my iPod set to shuffle. It keeps the playlists interesting. A while back I decided that I wanted to listen to Pink Floyd's "Darkside of the Moon." The first song was great, then it flowed into song 2 and my teeth gritted. When it went to song 3 I think I was in pain. I had to stop it. There are just some things that were never meant to be and that album HAS to be listened to in it's proper order.
