Various news outlets report Huckabee winning the GOP side in Iowa.

Oh, Iowa, Iowa, Iowa...

ETA: Obama on the Dem side, but it looks like it might have been a squeaker.

Probably not.

But Huckabee probably can't win outside of a red state, so it's really no big deal.

I lean towards Clinton, but I'm not that upset to see Obama win.

In the primaries, Huckabee gets most of the Evangelical vote with any moderates splitting between Romney, McCain, and Giuliani. Not sure who is voting for Thompson and I have a feeling that Paul his is threashold with the 10% he got in Iowa. But that means that Huckabee stands a reasonably good chance of winning the nomination if the non-Evangelicals don't get behind a candidate.

NOW Cnn is saying Obama will win.

Wish they'd make up their minds.

I'd rather have Clinton than Giuliani any day, but really hope Obama wins.

It's two different races.

Huckabee is the winner of the Republican race and Obama is the winner in the Democratic race.

Republicans
Huckabee
Romney
McCain/Thompson
Paul
Giuliani (who did not spend a whole lot of money in Iowa and essentially conceded it).

Democrats
Obama
Edwards
Clinton
Richardson
Biden

I was talking to a member of the local Democratic organization about Huckabee -- his observation: "Yeah, but he's slightly less an asshole than the others."

My response: "Yeah, but he's a much bigger religious loonball!"

Oy, and oy again.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that a fundie whackjob won in Iowa.

I am, however, pleasantly surprised to see that Obama pulled it out.
