well, I didn't get to the movies today, as it turned out to be one of those lovely, blue sky, winter-sunlit mild weather days where if you don't get outside and breathe the air you feel like you've squandered some rare gift.

So [after arguing with the guys at Dell for a while] I went outside and gave Darcy a good seeing-to/cleaning out of the trunk, did nefarious things with black spray paint, and walked down to Nica's to pick up fresh veggies for dinner and some fruit and half-price stollen while I was there.

The cats sacked out on the bed and snoozed.

And tonight, there is football. Hoo boy is there football. The announcers seem surprised that all the starters are playing and playing hard, in what is a 'meaningless' end-of-season game (The Pats and Giants both have post-season berths locked up). I'm not surprised at all. The Pats all want to be in on the game that might send them 16-0 for NFL history. And the Giants?

The Giants are a wild-card team going into the playoffs. Odds are they won't make it all the way through. But tonight? They're playing the as-of-now undefeated Patriots, the favored team to go all the way.

Tonight, this is their Superbowl. And they're playing with hearts and smarts, and sheer determination.

And going into halftime with a hard-won lead.

No matter the final score, they're making the Pats sweat. Go, J'nts!

ETA: I may be getting too old for this shit. I knew that scoreless series would come back to haunt us. Still a good game, mostly well-played, and while I personally would have preferred a different ending, at least it was the Pats, and not, say Dallas or Philly... *spits*

Congrats, New England Patriots.

Heh, we used online tech support, via livechat, didn't bother trying to call, was so much easier getting a real person, but still argued with them.

Him recognising you is a Good Thing, means you're becoming known.}:P

I've only ever used Dell's online tech support (which I realize can be problematic if the issue takes one completely offline :}), and I've had pretty good luck, even when the other end has obviously been in India. I've found that starting off with "I am a computer professional, let's please skip all the preliminary clueless-user crap" works well. :)

The hubby is the IT at his work, meaning, he's it to keep the computers up and running.

We told them that, STILL took giving them an ultimatum of sending the damn computer back for a full refund before they would listen to us.

I am dying. My Tivo is happily recording Torchwood. I would so love to be watching the game. Not enough to give up Torchwood tho.

Well, now THAT was a football game.

(For the record I'll root for the Giants on their side of the playoffs ... don't much care for any of the other NFC teams involved.)

Good game

I pulled hard for your J'ints.

The thing is...I can't even admire these Patriots. I think it was John Klima who said this at WFC...watching these Pats is like watching a video game. They're so methodical. Remember the 85 Bears? As good as they were, the chief appeal was the feeling that with Jim McMahon at the helm, disaster could strike any time...there could be a team-wide freak out! Then Sweetness would bring them all back from the brink! At least it would be entertaining. But these guys? Meh. Who cares?

But then, I am a Browns fan and a known Belichek-hater, so what do I know? ;)

Game looked more like the Patriots of yore, with the last-second field-goals out of blinding snow and such. Just _barely_ good enough to win, but win they did.

Oh, yeah, the commentators were a hoot. They obsess over statistics, being who and what they are, so it was all about this record and that, and how the Patriots won't have a successful season unless they win out through the Super Bowl. Bullshit. Those players are entertainers, and they've entertained a hell of a lot of people.

And comparing Moss with Rice? Totally bogus, to snag a line from younger lips...

I really wanted to the Giants to win. At least the Giants made a game of it and didn't just roll over for the Pats.
