for various reasons, Robie (the laptop) is on the IR list until (we hope) Friday.

This means I have been working on the desktop on a regular (many hours a day) basis.

This is a nice desktop. It has a loverly flatscreen monitor the cats can't sleep on, it has all the software I need and it generally gets the job done.

It also has: a mouse.

For the first time in over two years, I am back to wearing a wrist brace.

Hates meece. Wants touchpad back, damn it.

(yes, I know I could buy an external touchpad. I normally don't use the desktop for so many hours in a row that it becomes an issue)

::shakes head:: I cannot believe you deny your feline overlords a warm computer monitor bed. My cats would kill me if I got rid of theirs... god, I can imagine the shunning... the horror.

When you only have a medium-sized desk that has to fit both the monitor and a manuscript and a mug and a gargoyle filled with pens, a flatscreen seems the way to go. Besides, Pandora gets to sleep on the printer. Much more comfortable, and less chance of her getting a tumor from the extended contact (and easier for me to open up and vac out the ahir she invariably sheds into it).

Boomer sleeping on a monitor... it would have to be a 17" screen, minmum!

Two words: canned air. I use it regularly on all parts of the computer -- even the tower when I get compulsive -- and it keeps problems to a minimum.
