It's been a long time since I walked out of a movie theater saying "I need to see that again. No, I mean like RIGHT NOW."

Stardust had me saying that.

Yes the plot is as thin as a small town's phone book. So what? It's a fairy tale, people. You know the destination; it's the journey that's important.

And what a lovely, funny, beautiful, hysterical, delightful, perfectly cast journey it is. And did I mention hysterically funny? Smart-funny, the finest kind. And everyone in it shone.

Wanna go see it again. It's going on my pre-order list as soon as it's available.

As [livejournal.com profile] smoemeth said, it's THE PRINCESS BRIDE of this generation. Yeah. Only (dare I say it?) better.

(also: Nathaniel Parker? Would not kick him out of bed for eating crackers, no.)

If you haven't read the book, do so immediately.

Now see, I'm just the opposite- I prefer to read the book first.}:P

I've seen numerous trailers, and checked out the movie website- there's alot that's different in the book.

I'd kick johnny depp out of my bed for eating crackers... and that's saying something. Well... maybe not. If all of the cracker got into his mouth and there was no cracker residue on the sheets for me to wake up to... maybe I could handle that for Johnny Depp. Maybe. But not Nathaniel Parker. Nope, away he can go, eating his crackers in someone elses bed.

::grins and laughs to self:: umhum. Yeah. ::murmers vaguely about 'old people'::

Nathaniel Parker is highly decorative. Not sure about crackers, tho.

I loved Stardust. It was so nicely done, funny and charming without being smarmy. I've seen it 2x and it goes on my list of dvds to own.

Why not and tell Robert how much you enjoyed his performance. He obviously has a sense of humor.

We loved it, too. It is really a magical film, and I do not understand why everyone isn't standing in line to see it.

We saw it a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night at the big theatre in Clifton, with about twelve other people (if that). Thank goodness that for the most part, they were definitely Of The Body. There was much laughter at all the right spots, and a good number of us stayed till the end of the credits.

I saw it the first weekend and have been waiting for right time to see it again. (then again)

Today might be the day. I have a friend who likes to go to movies with me now and again. We are meeting up today. She gets to see it with me. Yay.

I was thoroughly delighted by it. Definitely agree with the Nathaniel Parker comment, and also Charlie Cox (if I ignore the "old enough to be his mother" bit). Not quite sure I love it as much as Princess Bride, but it's probably right on up there. And I ADORED the brothers - they were probably my favorite part of the film! Of course, Rupert Everett wherever possible.

The theatre we were in was PACKED. The place lost it a few times. And the final scene had us picking out all our "Family" friends in the audience. Just sayin'.

And DeNiro is freakin' brilliant. I could not have picked a better actor for that role, simply because of the mental dissonance it created. I loved that!

And thank you... I was saying the same thing. It's a fairy tale, we KNOW where they go. ;)

Is this the film where the heroine comes up from the sewer system in NYC?

Sorry. I looked on the internet and found the response to my question. It is NOT the same film. Another question though: Is the young guy (Tristan?) with semi-long hair in the white coat the same person as the other young guy with short hair in the brown coat?

I'm not sure what I was asking. I only saw the stills from the movie. And in the stills, there was a very yummy Tristan in a white long coat and a very young looking guy with short hair dressed in brown. Could be he was a young Dunstan. I think I'm going to have to see this film when it comes out in France. Although, the dialogue prolly won't be as good in French.
