whit_in_austin's place, drinking single malt and watching Jon Stewart, and recovering from the flight out from Newark (which was painless except for the sitting-on-the-tarmac-for-two-hours-waiting-for-the-storm-in-Pennsylvania-to-pass). And there has been mexican food for dinner, and there are cats for cuddling, including M, who is a female red ringtail. I look at her and do a doubletake because hey, Boomer. Only delicate instead of bullet-headed.

Meanwhile, some humor, stolen-with-permission from Bud Webster:

FORGET BEER. It's expensive, bad for you, and above all you only get to taste it once - if you're lucky. Plus you can get busted for doing it while driving, not to mention there's absolutely nothing more gross than used beer.

TRY BOOKS. They're cheap (relatively), good for you, and you can read them over and over, no matter how your luck runs. You can't get arrested for driving while reading, although it isn't a very good idea, but there's no "bookalyzer" test out there yet, so you're clear. And used books are almost as good as new ones, and won't ruin your shoes.

And for those of you who were at the Pocket booth at ComicCon -- the finger does make an acceptable cat toy. I suppose I should warn the cat-sitter....
