Has anyone here ever had their building go co-op? If so, I need to pick your brain...

Me personally, no, but I have been paralegal on a few...

Is this a legal or a procedural question?

I've never been through a building becoming a co-op. However, I bought a unit in a building that is a co-op, and have lived here for almost two years. I'd be happy to talk with you in regards to my experience of living in one.

Co-op conversion

Our first apartment went co-op but we didn't buy in. Lived there anyway for another 10 years (+/- a few). Bought our current co-op apartment 5 years ago. Whaddaya wanna know? (Note: This is all in Queens. Laws and such will vary state to state.)

I've met people who do this, but down here the insulation (for noise reduction, much less fire protection) sucks pond water. So I wouldn't do it down here. I'd build a two-fer and rent the other side.

Didn't Tom Dish go through this? He's here on lj. Sounds to me like this could be interesting, if you care to keep us posted.
