Okay, it has come down to this:

do I go to NASFiC for Saturday and Sunday, on my way home from California? Or do I go straight home...and then go to 'dillocon in Austin the next week?

There are bookstores in the wine country, make it tax deductible. You're a foodie. Call the French Laundry now and make a reservation, or dine at Bouchon. Or at Julia's Kitchin in COPIA. Or Terra - that's actually my favorite restaurant in the wine counry. It's phenomenal. Grab debg, dine exquisitely and sign some books, and "consult" with Deb about the publishing industry and call it a business expense. Just saying.

Hell yes, but you won't need to rent a car. I've got one, I know and adore the Wine Country (although I'm not as high on French Laundry as many I know, since I just don't see the point of a $230 tasting menu when I'm allergic to half the shit and don't get to choose subs), and will happily take you anywhere you'd like.

We're going to have a major event at Borderlands, so of course the Wine Country trip is deductible. I deduct that stuff all the time.

The Armadillo one sounds coolest of all.....so you should totally go to that one.

That help?

Go to DilloCon so I can see you. Go to bookstores in Wine country so you can deduct. Sleep whenever possible.

Another vote from another Dillo to come down and see us!

Food? Possibly.

McCallan's? Yup.

As for CA, I'd slaughter bookstores AND go to the wine country at the same time -- in fact, set up an autographing in the wine country!

To be honest, you probably need sleep. But for ArmadilloCon I can take a stab at finishing setting up the second bedroom, which potentially means you can get rid of the hotel room. We will probably have for breakfast both eggs of some kind and Irish oatmeal, and I promise to set up the coffee maker weeks before, so any brain slips do not impact caffeine.

I must warn you, though -- Bev has one flaw.

(She likes Velveeta, and will willingly throw it into eggs in the am.)

I even kept a brick of it for her for several months, before it occurred to me I could toss it and find her another brick on her next trip.

There will probably be mass chocolate events -- and we have a new tea shop that even serves occasional flour-free tasties.

Pool is doing pretty good so far -- and there are cats to pet!

Plus that ArmadilloCon thing. Signings? The big independent is Book People, but they blow hot and cold on SF/Fantasy. Several B&N and Borders have been known to be good about signings, and there will be people like Adventures in Crime & Space and Edge Books attending the con.

You will be wanted, in other words. ;^)

My work computer has been acting up. It suddenly said I had submitted my vote, but I didn't post anything, to my knowledge.

Sign some books, go to wineries, enjoy. Take everything off your taxes.
