I hate the entire tradition of April Fool's. Always have, and have yet to see anything that would change my mind about it.

March was not a happy month for many people. In fact, 2007 to-date has seemed determined to be the year of bad emotional shit.

So I'm suggesting something different for today. Be a different kind of fool -- a springtime fool. A Tarot Fool. Start the journey fresh, with a leap off the cliff not of trickery, but hope. Do something positive, something that brings a smile. For yourself, for someone else. Make it small, or huge, planned or impulsive.

But do it quietly, without fanfare, for the simple act of bringing joy.

And spread the word.

EtA: and for the Anonymous troll who asked, no this isn't a joke.

I bid you good cheer, as we begin Holy Week, and Passover, and April, and, thank the goddess, baseball season.
It is Palm Sunday, and in my Italian-American tradition, this is a day to welcome friends and family, visit, and share a meal when possible.
My religion is food, family, and feminism. I find them all here. I greet you all warmly. Happy, sweet April.

As someone else who dislike's April Fool's, this sounds like a most excellent plan.

Normally I would buy plants, but half my lower garden is ripped up to put in very nice stone terracing. Hmm.

Commit random acts of joy and kindness and senseless beauty! I've always felt that hope is better than despair. *sending you a virtual spring daisy* and a big smile.

That sounds like a perfect way to spend the day -- thank you for the suggestion.

I really like this. I still remember the Ann Tonsor Zeddies book, where in a reading the Fool was stepping out to meet the Windhorse, smiling because he already knew he wasn't going to fall.

Another vote for random acts of kindness.

And small bunches of daffodils.

April 1st was my Nana's birthday. She loved having tea parties for all of the grandkids when we came to visit. I brew a pot and think of her every year.
