from CNN.com: Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey has resigned in the wake of the Walter Reed hospital scandal, two days after firing the 2-star general who was heading up Reed.

This is a scandal that veteran groups knew about years ago. A scandal that civilians knew about years ago -- it was being discussed on LJ, openly. Substandard facilities and treatment, for those who were wounded in war, serving this country.

Only now, two weeks after the story broke in the news, is anyone resigning. And Bush has said not word one on the topic.

"We support the troops."

Yeah. Right.

At least you guys are getting resignations. We haven't had any of those over here (UK) and our armed forces have been treated abominably - the troops have been buying their own kit, families have been sending boxes of food over. When the injured troops get home they get put in a normal hospital to be abused by civilians because the Government shut down all the military hospitals years ago.

That's happening here, too. Soldiers have to buy their own armor, some of them are getting enough calories to get by out of care packages from home.
