"Casablanca" is on.

*melts*

Ilsa was an idiot. Just sayin'

(and not because Rick was 'more romantic' or any rot like that. I just think she would have had a much more interesting life with him. Victor was an Idealist. Political idealists rarely have that much fun. Plus, I bet the sex was better.)

Oh, thank GAWD, someone else who wants to smack Ilsa and say "What in hell were you THINKING?!?"

Man, I'd have sent Victor off to go be self-sacrificing somewhere. That big an idealist, she was just going to be a distraction to him, anyway.

I have never understood why it is considered romantic to leave the guy you really love to go back to the guy you might have once loved.

But I love the movie anyway.

I never saw her as sacrificing herself for the man but for the cause. Hmmm?

Ah. I misunderstood. This movie is why I love La Marseillaise despite it being a bloodthirsty nationalist hymn. The scene in Rick's place where even the woman fraternizing with the Germans sings it send shivers up and down my spine.
