I only did basic touristy stuff, so I probably can't tell you anything new, except maybe these:

1. for pretty sparklies, there's a sweet little shopped called, I think, Caraelle, on the Rue Descartes in the Quartier Latin, and

2. if you go to the bird market on the Ile de la Cite on Sundays, there's a stall that sells all sorts of cute fuzzies you can play with AND the owner keeps his own pet rat there too, and he's a cutie (the rat).

Enjoy! What part of town are you staying in?

Paris. Mmmmm. It hasn't even been a year, and I am homesick for it already. Not the way I long to be in London, which feels almost homelike, but in a way so full of romance and longing and art and food and wine and ...

I need to stop this now. But I love reading your list. It's getting closer. And so is spring.

I have been twice, twenty years apart, and there is so much I have not seen. Never got to Versailles, or Giverny, or Provins, of the outside tours, but I have been to Chartres both times.

In the city of lights, also much left to explore. I will look forward with keen enthusiasm to your reports and musings.

Paris! When are you going and may I come too?

You say you have done the usual things. I have a couple of other things you might be interested in.

Chantilly. It is a town a bit north of Paris and is reachable by commuter train. There is the prettiest chateau there, with additional goodies. The best small museum in the world. Musee Conde. It is inside the chateau. It is floor to ceiling with masterpieces and unfamiliar pieces by very familiar names. The gardens. About a half hours walk in the garden you come across a small "village". It is where the Count and his entourage went for ice cream. There are sculptures all along the way. Good ones.

The stable. The count thought he would resurrect as a horse, so the stable is mostly marble. There is a daily dressage show there. The race course. The woods.

The entire place was deeded to the government on condition that the estate never be broken up.

Another place to go to in Paris is a hall full of reproductions. Perfect ones. From all over the country. You can take as many photos as you like and with flash too. 16th century paintings, wonderful sculptures, etc. If you stand in central Paris and look towards the Eiffel tower, the hall is beyond the tower on the right side of the plaza there. Across the river.

I will be looking forward to your trip reports tho. I am going to try for June, I think. I am working most of May.
