There is no weekend for the freelancer: Saturday and Psyche

My psyche is cheaper than any therapist could ever be. And spends less time getting into my gray matter. Woke up at 4am this morning from a dream that was both horrible (cruel and real-in-the-way-you-know-you're-dreaming-but-scary-anyway) and illuminating (oh, well, d'oh!). Thought about it for a while, decided that having been made aware of how I was really feeling, I could now take action on it, and tried to go back to sleep.

Woke up around 6 by -- well, mainly by Boomer snuggling up to my shoulders like a cheap mink stole, but also by dream #2, which was less horrible (about having to get a number of cats out of a house, because of a suspected fire) but clarified something about the action I knew I was going to have to take.

No muss, no fuss, no insurance bill at the end of the month. My dreams are obliging that way.


Then I wrote a thousand+ words of smut character and plot development between two characters that happened to occur in bed, paid some bills, and took action on the action I had to take.

All before 10 am.

Do I get to take the rest of the day off?

No?

Drat.

I don't know, Suri, it seems to me you should take the rest of the day off anyway. It's cold. It's grey. It's February. Sometimes you just need a Real. Break. And you did fabulous personal psychic work this morning.

Can't you at least allow yourself the rest of the day?

I don't know how fabulous it was, but it needed doing. I did take a few hours off, but now must ge back to't. Client's waiting.

And I forget, every year, how much I hate February. Nothing good ever happens in it.

Argh! A "cats in peril" dream. They are the worst. I kinda experienced your dream about the fire firsthand when our whole town had to evacuate due to the raging wildfires a few years back. I couldn't get Jessie in a cat carrier, then couldn't even find her, and so had to leave her behind. These days my cat dreams center around having to carry a bunch of them down the street and then one gets away and I try to hold onto the rest while trying to get the loose one and then a car comes careening around the corner and then.....ayiiieee!!!!

This one wasn't even really a peril dream, because it was all very calm, and more of a "stupid cats, I don't HAVE carriers for you all, so march your pointy tails OUT that door already!" kind of a situation.

It was just reminding me that I do actually know how to herd cats, when it comes down to it. And that a huge part of that is just keeping my sense of humor to the fore.
