the Harry Dresden drinking game

Take a sip/shot when:

1. flashback!
2. Bob apologizes, and somebody in the viewing room says "Bob wouldn't do that!" (and oh how I wish he was a proper skull but still, nice scenery there, yes'm)
3. Harry fondles his bracelet.
4....

anyone got any favorites?

(personally, I'm thinking it ain't anywhere near as bad as it might have been, and much better than some things Skiffy has done. So the jury is out. And I actually liked Murphy - she looks wrong but she walks right. Alas, as I do not have the skiffy channel, I am dependent on the strangeness of kinders....)

I'm not sure the flashbacks are going to be regular things. I know, for example, that the second episode they're showing is flashback-free.

However, they understand that the most important thing about a Harry Dresden story is that Harry gets beat up a lot, so you can drink every time someone inflicts pain on him. That'll get you right plastered....

Seems like Harry angst is going to be a regular thing. Paul Blackthorne seems to specialize in that pained look. Pained look=take a shot.

And I agree: not as bad as it might have been and, you know, if you don't know the books, not bad at all, although a friend of mine who isn't familiar with the series said the following:

It was pretty much the same basic canvas as "Supernatural" (guy's mother is killed by something supernatural, he grows up wanting to hunt and kill the things that do that), but without the cool rock music.

I don't agree, myself, but I may be more forgiving.

drink when he does that thing with the eyebrows.

plot hole you could drive a truck through (insert international sign for "plot hole you could drive a truck through" here), finish your drink and pour another.

Yeah, as I noted to chickwrite, I'm not as drawn to Dresden on TV as I am Dresden in book format. Will probably stick with it for a while to see if it's for me, and at worst hope it creates new Jim Butcher readers.

having never read the books, I can see a potential here once they figure out what it is they want to do.

And you know iTunes will be showing it on Mondays (or I can send you a DVD every week)

Send me an address (captainjaq@gmail.com) and we'll see what we can do (Of course, this gives me an excuse to figure out how to use my new DVD burner)

Sounds like this one might develop, based on the number of mentions in the pilot: every time Harry hints for money and/or favors from the cops, drink.

I have mixed feelings about the series, but I'll stick with it. My only truly non-pedantic sticking point is Bob. They changed Bob! And I'm not just talking about him taking human form instead of possessing Mister, his whole personality seems different. But aside from that, I was mostly pleased. Blackthorne is awesome as Harry -- at least to me!

No drinking for me, so no cues.

So far, I'm thinking of it as a sort of alternate Harry Dresden. Not quite the same, but not bad. In bookworld, Harry drives the Blue Beetle. In TV land, he drives a Jeep. Comparisons will be interesting artistically if nothing else. And I don't mind looking at Paul Blackthorne.

I'll probably end up with a preference, but as long as things don't go the way of Enemy Mine, I'll be all right. (Standards, much?)

I considered that ... definitely into folding territory there. Jeep suits.
