Merrily the page proofs roll right along. I've found a few places where changes made during the edit did not get transferred. This happens every single damn time, and it's making me serously Cranky. Bad enough there are things I can't catch, but when they're caught, and fixed, and then dropped because someone can't be arsed to input them.... grrr.

It's therefore a needful chore, to proof the proofs. But it's cut into my writing/editing energy, damn it. I'm now behind on my read-through of the draft. I HATE falling off schedule.

On the other hand, I've gotten a lot of Life Stuff done today. That counts, right? I mean, it counts for something, on some sliding scale of not-writing...

Also determined that the felines have two goals in life: to sleep on me when I work on the sofa, and to sleep on me when I go to bed. Everything else is just Waiting. They occasionally do other things while they're waiting (mainly annoy each other and, in Boomer's case, noshing) but mostly...just waiting. When I work in the office they are very upset, because there's no way to sleep on me, in there. They have to settle for sleeping near me.

meanwhile, 'No Reservations' still rocks. Anthony B. is a loon. I laughed and drooled at the same time (except the gooeyduck. I didn't drool over that). And now I want to make Epoisse-whiz. And pop rock graham cracker crust. (no, not to go together! ewwww...hrmmm...) And gooeyduck is just...wrong. Especially as sashimi. Who first thought that was a good thing to eat?

My cat's life goal is to sleep on me when I am doing something else. Watching TV is barely acceptable. However, my lap is most attractive when I am (A) typing or (B) embroidering. In the best of all possible worlds, he would sit on my fingers while I typed. He has tried this more than once.

My previous cat believed that the best possible place to sleep was in the middle of the Sunday Times before I had finished it. I sense a pattern here.

In my second novel, the typesetters put in an error that wasn't in the ms. or the proofs...adding an "s" to face...the first word on the last page, and suddenly my heroine had two faces!

I hate proofs...
