and an obligatory feline mention: Boomer's paws are hot. Temperature-wise, I mean. I know this because he keeps patting my face with them.

Book stores? How about Borderland in San Francisco? They do Science Fiction, Horror and suchlike. No mysteries. For that I suggest M is For Mystery in San Mateo.

I suspect I know of a place in SF that would put you up, tho I don't have the right to ask you (or her) You have roomed with her before. (g)

Where is the GOH gig? (and when?)

[livejournal.com profile] suricattus and I opened the west coast leg of the "Magic and Mayhem" tour back in 2004 at Borderlands. We flew into San Fran on Monday, crashing with a friend, did the signing at Borderlands on Tuesday, and then hit the 5 right after the signing ended, eventually stopping in Lebec and staying at a motel. Wednesday morning we checked out and drove the rest of the way to L.A., did a signing at Dark Delicacies Wednesday night, then crashed with another friend, then drove down to San Diego Thursday afternoon to do a signing at Mysterious Galaxy Thursday night, after which we drove north on the 5 until we hit Kettleman Station, crashed in a motel, then drove the rest of the way to San Francisco and flew home.

I'll let her answer the GoH gig question.......

Don't know about bookstores but if you get to the DC/VA area, Fast Forward would love to get you on again. Hotel Zipser is available as well (with hot and cold running cats - OK, weird and stupid running cats.

And we could find bookstores - there's plenty

Are we talking chains or interesting indies for bookstores?

In the "Chain" category, I'll nominate the West Bloomfield, MI, Barnes & Noble (Orchard Lake Road). This is the place I go to face out friend's books on a regular basis. :)

I'm rather lacking in interesting indies, alas. The one I occasionally visit in Ann Arbor has virtually zero fiction, being instead full of esoteric non-fic, as befitting the name Crazy Wisdom Bookshop.

Let me poke around here... the interesting indie down in Royal Oak/Berkeley had a devastating fire a couple years ago and I don't think they've yet reopened officially.

SarahZ and StevenP will have a better idea of what's out A^2 way these days than I do. I haven't lived in Ypsi since 1998 and don't get into Ann Arbor nearly as much as I used to. Of course, the Borders Mothership Store is right in downtown Ann Arbor...
