Regarding the new abomination of a posting mechanism, has anyone figured out how to use the "custom" posting feature yet? Because the drop-down menu shows "custom" but then won't let me select the custom group....

That seems to be happening on a few people's browsers; my best guess is that it's a javascript configuration in your browser. (I don't have the page source in front of me, so this isn't gospel, but that looks like something that's done on the fly rather than preloaded, and javascript configs might prevent it from doing that.) Give it 48 hours; they've been making little tweaks to the page, and are probably working on that one.

(I prefer the new update page to the old one. But then, it's not preventing me from selecting custom groups or anything.) :)

I would personally like to kick whoever keeps screwing with their stupid interface and layout until the toe of my boot wears out.

Same problem here, and it is SERIOUSLY pissing me off.

Probably a java thing, and I am not going to redo my java to accommodate them. I'm a paying customer. THEY can accommodate ME.

the last time they redesigned the posting page, i ran into the same problem on OS9. Started posting by email at that time, and use different journals instead of different filters.

I don't use my flters so often than I'd need another journal -- I just figure most of you aren't all that interested in the occasional TMI minutia of my life (and if you are, that's called stalking, damn it!)

It's just...frustrating. As usual, they're giving us More! when most of us have no interest in More!, and not fixing the stuff as's broke.

I'm still annoyed at the entire "hhey, we're going Corporate, jsut for YOU!" bs they tried to pull. I'll keep my paid account because it serves a busines purpose, but the extra frills I might have done before? Fugeddaboutit. You got your money elsewher, SixApart, so I feel no need to give you any more of mine.

yeah, i wish that they would make it such that we can choose which update page we use much like we can choose which "wrapper" goes around the page itself.

(and could I have had any more typos in that post without actively trying? Once again -- the ability to EDIT COMMENTS would be much appreciated. Put your programming minds to that problem, please, and leave the rest of LJ alone....)

I had a nice long post written yesterday ready to post and... no ability to post to custom groups. :sigh:

I ended up saving it in Microsoft Word for another time.

I just got used to using the posting page.

My friend who's on LJ Abuse says that the LJ folks are aware of this problem and are working on it. Apparently the problem doesn't exist in Firefox, if that's an option.

It is apparently fixed as of at least right now. I had a few entries locked in custom security land limbo that are now free.
