Ah, the Tuscan hills.................

Sorry, just flashed back to my first trip to Italy, which included a week in Siena.

I miss Siena dreadfully. How you can miss someplace you've only ever been to twice I don't know, but there it is.

It may not be as magical as my memory insists. But I like to think it is.

I think it was every bit as glorious as we remember. We stayed in an old convent, and they served us breakfast and dinner. Keith, then a golden-haired twelve-year-old, was made much of by the staff. There was a garden overlooking the Tuscan hills out back, and when we weren't peering inside churches or gasping over gorgeous golden madonnas or sitting in the piazza shaped like a scallop shell we sat there. Keith read comics there. We learned about our contrada and about the Palio.

I want to go back. Right. Now.
