Have reached the halfway point of the outline for TNS. Am not at the halfway point of the word count. Ooops. But we're about to take the roller coaster down into the first of many tight loops, so that will probably change soon.

(side note: the most terrifying and the most exciting phrase in the English language is "uh-oh.")


But first, off to the post awful with a sack full of coal.


And two travel-related items:

1. Dear Universe, please don't let the Continental/UA talks go anywhere. I like my airline-of-choice, and I don't like the other, and I jsut can't see goodness happening from it. On the other hand, if someone should show interest in acquiring the airline I own stock in? That would be just fine by me...

2. it's a particular sort of geekiness, to drool over this....

Oh, I know from luggage lust, having now bought *two* separate totes to take to Cardiff...

Motly I an get by with my wheeled carry-on and my leather overnighter, but sometimes you just need a garment bag. We had one that was almost perfect, but it was sized for someone taller than I am, so the ex laid claim to it.

(there was, at one point, a luggage set that was actually sized for the average female, but I remember looking at it and thinking "god, that's fugly. Why do they think we'd want that particular pattern?" I suspect it didn't sell well enough to expand into more suitable-for-businesswomen sets.)

I'm so frumpy I tend to not need garment bags. :> Trying to skip check-in luggage, though, due to the fact that I'll be moving around so much in the UK.

I tend to take trips that require at least one set of Grown-Up clothes. And while velvet shoves into suitcases without too much damage (what, you guys thought I wore it just 'cause it makes people go oooo? Well, mostly for that, yeah), velvet doesn't work so well in warm weather.

The upcoming trip, I will be traveling (I gather) by plane, train and funicular. I want something that's both compact and light!

So I've been informed. Hotel is uphill from town, connected by the aforementioned funicular. Or one could take a cab, if one were feeling prosaic.

Yes, drooling over a garment bag is VERY geeky.

Now can you explain to me why we keep suits in a garment bag, yet we keep garments in a suitcase. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I've mastered driveway and parkway. All over that one, but the garment bag/suitcase quandry still has me.
