mid-April, staying in le Marais, at the Jeanne D'Arc, off Ste-Catherine. And plans at the moment are....flexible. Meaning I haven't had time to do more than decide and book. *grin*

What's cool about the neighborhood you chose? Proximity to shopping or fabulous restaurants? Sounds like you'll have a great time.

Le Marais covers the 3rd and 4th arrondissements (neighborhoods) in Paris. It used to be a marsh (hence the name) and then was drained to make way for the aristocracy to build estates, pre-Versailles. Then it became the default Jewish quarter, and then home to the gay community, with much of the architecture considered historic and therefore protected.

In short, it's a lovely, mostly-residential area with a lot of great restaurants and bakeries, well-placed for a base of operations for Paris as a whole.

It's a Thing I've been promising myself for a while, enabled by my sister's decision to take her family over during school break -- knowing that they'll be in town as well takes some of the stress off my meh francais. Unfortunately, middle sister can't make it then, so it won't be a true "Gilman Girls" vacation the way we did in Italy...
